iOS 27’s New Landscape Mode Looks Ready for Apple’s Foldable iPhone

Apple is expanding landscape mode across more built-in iPhone apps with iOS 27, giving users a wider layout in apps like Apple Music, Podcasts, Fitness, Health, Reminders, Home, Shortcuts, Weather, Voice Memos, Find My, and Apple Watch.

The change makes these apps easier to use when the iPhone is turned sideways, especially on larger screens. In `Apple Music and Podcasts, landscape support currently works inside the audio player, while many other apps now show a left-aligned sidebar for easier navigation.

More Apps Now Work Better Sideways

Messages already supported landscape mode before iOS 27, but Apple has now added an option to collapse the sidebar and show only names and profile pictures. iOS 27 also brings landscape support to Live Activities in the Dynamic Island.

This wider app support could prepare iOS for the rumored iPhone Ultra, which Apple may introduce in September alongside the public iOS 27 release. To use landscape mode, users need to turn off Portrait Orientation Lock in Control Center and rotate the iPhone sideways.
