iPadOS 26.2 public beta 3 is now available, here is everything new

iPadOS 26.2 beta now available for developers

Apple released iPadOS 26.2 beta 3 for developers on November 17, and now the same build is rolling out to public beta testers through the Apple Beta Software Program. It sits alongside iOS 26.2, macOS 26.2, watchOS 26.2, and tvOS 26.2, all moving toward an expected December release.

This update is not a flashy redesign. Instead, it continues the work that started with iPadOS 26 and 26.1, where Apple shifted the iPad toward a more desktop-style window system. Beta 3 focuses on multitasking comfort, especially for people who relied on Split View and Slide Over for years and never felt fully at home with the newer model.

At the same time, iPadOS 26.2 keeps in step with platform-wide changes from iOS 26.2, including interface tweaks, smarter media apps, and refinements to existing features instead of brand new ones.

How to install iPadOS 26.2 public beta 3

Before you start, back up your iPad with iCloud or a computer. Beta software can still break apps or workflows.

  1. On your iPad, open Settings and sign in with your Apple ID if you have not already.
  2. Go to General > Software Update.
  3. Tap Beta Updates and select the iPadOS 26.2 public beta channel.
  4. Return to the Software Update screen and wait for iPadOS 26.2 public beta 3 to appear.
  5. Tap Download and Install, then follow the on-screen steps until your iPad restarts.

What is new in iPadOS 26.2 beta 3

The headline change in this build is multitasking. You can once again drag an app icon from the Dock, App Library, or Spotlight to the side of the screen to enter Split View or Slide Over. This restores a familiar gesture that many users missed when Apple first pushed the new window system.

This beta also continues the broader 26.2 feature set that spans iPhone and iPad. Sleep metrics gain updated score ranges, which aim to make results feel more honest. Apple Podcasts can generate chapters and show links automatically, using on-device intelligence to organize episodes. The News app gets quicker access to key sections so you reach your usual reading spots faster.

Visual polish is part of the story, too. Liquid Glass styling keeps getting tuned, from clearer numerals in the Measure app to better behavior when you enable the new Tinted mode alongside accessibility options. Games and Reminders see smaller updates, such as better library controls and clearer prompts for setting alarms. Many users will also notice the quieter improvements: smoother animations and bug fixes that make the system feel less jittery.

If you try iPadOS 26.2 public beta 3 on your daily tablet, keep in mind that some apps or accessories might still misbehave until the final release arrives. Let us know in the comments.
