iPhone 17 Series Tops Global Smartphone Sales in Q4 2025

Apple dominated global smartphone sales in the last quarter of 2025, led by the iPhone 17 lineup. The company secured multiple top positions, showing strong demand for its latest devices and consistent performance across markets.

iPhone 17 Pro Max leads the market

Counterpoint Research reports that the iPhone 17 Pro Max was the best-selling smartphone in Q4 2025. It was followed by the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro, giving Apple the top three spots on the list.

The iPhone 16 ranked fourth, while the iPhone 16e secured the eighth position. However, the iPhone Air did not make it into the top 10.

Counterpoint Research stated, “The top 10 smartphones contributed 23% of global sales for the quarter.”

The report also noted that the iPhone 17 Pro Max alone accounted for 5% of total global smartphone sales during this period.

Samsung secured four positions in the top 10 with its Galaxy A series and flagship model. The Galaxy A56 ranked fifth, followed by the Galaxy A36 in sixth place and the Galaxy A07 in seventh. The Galaxy S25 took the tenth position.

Xiaomi claimed the ninth spot with the Redmi A5, driven by strong demand in emerging markets such as Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.

Apple maintains strong yearly performance

Counterpoint Research shows that Apple consistently placed iPhones in the top 10 throughout 2025. The iPhone 16 stood out as the only model that remained in the list for the entire year and led most quarterly rankings.

Apple held five spots in the Q4 list, while Samsung secured four and Xiaomi took one. Improved features in the iPhone 17 series, including better performance and higher base specifications, contributed to stronger sales compared to previous models.
