Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max could bring a larger battery upgrade than the regular iPhone 18 Pro, based on new Chinese regulatory certification filings that appear to reveal the battery capacities for both models ahead of launch.
According to the latest C3 database listings in China, the iPhone 18 Pro is listed with a 4,056mAh battery for China and a 4,288mAh battery for the U.S. model, which marks only a small increase over the iPhone 17 Pro.
The bigger change appears on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, which is listed with a 5,391mAh battery in China and a 5,567mAh battery in the U.S., giving it a much larger jump over the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
iPhone 18 Pro Battery Capacity Details
Here are the leaked battery figures from the certification filings:
- iPhone 18 Pro China model: 4,056mAh
- iPhone 18 Pro U.S. model: 4,288mAh
- iPhone 18 Pro Max China model: 5,391mAh
- iPhone 18 Pro Max U.S. model: 5,567mAh
The difference between China and the U.S. models likely comes from Apple’s eSIM-only design in the United States, as removing the physical SIM tray gives Apple more internal space for a slightly larger battery.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max shows the strongest battery increase here, especially when compared with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which carried 4,823mAh in China and 5,088mAh in the U.S.
The filings also mention battery model numbers linked to both Pro models, along with rated energy figures of up to 21.751Wh and a 4.520V charge limit voltage.
The larger battery, paired with Apple’s expected 2nm A20 Pro chip, should help the iPhone 18 Pro Max deliver better battery life during daily use, especially for gaming, video recording, navigation, and long screen-on sessions.
Apple is also rumored to bring a smaller Dynamic Island, a variable aperture main camera, and a C2 modem for some markets.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to launch in September alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
