Apple builds the iPhone 18 Pro Max around a 6.9-inch OLED panel at 2868 by 1320 pixels, 460 pixels per inch, inside a 249 gram aluminum body that measures 163.4 by 78.0 by 8.75 mm. Those are the figures Apple’s own tech specs attach to this phone, not a ratio measured against any other model.

Treated as its own product rather than the larger option next to the iPhone 18 Pro, the Pro Max carries a specific set of published numbers for its screen, its weight and its frame, and a shorter list of numbers Apple has chosen not to publish at all.

The panel, in Apple’s own numbers

Apple describes the display as Super Retina XDR with ProMotion up to 120Hz and an Always-On mode, the same vocabulary it uses across the current iPhone lineup. What is specific to this model is the 2868 by 1320 resolution, a figure that belongs to the Pro Max and to no other iPhone Apple sells.

The Dynamic Island sitting inside that panel is smaller than last year’s and, per Apple’s own description, shows up to three Live Activities at once, with Face ID retained underneath it. Apple has not published separate dimensions for the redesigned cutout itself, only the claim about how many activities it can hold.

The body it sits in

At 249 g, the Pro Max is the heaviest iPhone Apple currently sells that does not fold. Apple’s tech specs describe the enclosure as an aluminum unibody with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front glass and Ceramic Shield on the back, and put recycled aluminum content in that enclosure at 85 percent.

IP68 water resistance is rated to 6 meters for up to 30 minutes, and the phone ships in the same four finishes Apple lists for the smaller Pro: Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy. Nothing about color changes the weight or dimension figures above.

What belongs to this size, and what does not

Pixel density, refresh rate, the three brightness figures, Ceramic Shield 2 and the IP68 rating are constants Apple publishes across both of this year’s Pro sizes. The numbers that change specifically with the Pro Max are the ones tied to its physical footprint: the 6.9-inch panel, the 2868 by 1320 resolution, the 249 g weight and the 163.4 by 78.0 mm dimensions.

The pixel count, worked out

Apple does not publish a total pixel count or a screen area in square millimeters for either iPhone size, so the figure below is simple multiplication on Apple’s own published resolution, not a second Apple source.

What Apple has not said

  • A screen area in square millimeters, or a total pixel count, for either iPhone size.
  • A contrast ratio for the Pro Max panel.
  • Dimensions for the redesigned Dynamic Island itself, beyond the three-Live-Activity claim.
  • Whether a nano-texture, anti-reflective glass option will reach an iPhone; Apple currently offers that finish only on the iPhone Duo’s inner display.
  • A weight or dimension figure that differs by color, which Apple does not vary.
