iPhone 18 Pro Max Leak Points to Larger Battery and Thicker Build

iPhone Fold Camera vs iPhone 18 Pro Camera: Early Leaks Compared

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max will reportedly feature a slightly thicker design compared with the previous model, which suggests the company plans internal hardware changes that improve battery performance while keeping the overall look almost identical.

Early information suggests the device will measure about 8.8mm thick, a small increase from the 8.75mm thickness of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The change looks minor on paper, but it signals internal adjustments that support a larger battery and possibly other upgraded components.

Weibo-based leaker Ice Universe shared the thickness detail, stating that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will reach 8.8mm while the overall body size remains almost the same. The leaker said there is little change to the fuselage dimensions even with the added thickness.

Slightly heavier body expected

Another Weibo tipster, Instant Digital, earlier reported that Apple’s hardware adjustments will also increase the phone’s weight. According to the claim, the device may cross 240 grams, which would make it the heaviest iPhone since the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The increase in thickness and weight is likely linked to battery improvements that Apple plans for the device.

Leaker Digital Chat Station has said the iPhone 18 Pro Max may include a battery between 5,100 mAh and 5,200 mAh. That represents a modest increase over the 5,088 mAh battery found in the eSIM version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Reports also suggest Apple will keep the same 6.9 inch display size. The iPhone 18 Pro lineup should arrive later this year with a smaller Dynamic Island, Apple’s C2 modem, a simplified Camera Control system, and a main camera that supports a variable aperture.
