Apple’s own pages for iPhone Duo never use the word crease. What they publish instead is a set of engineering claims about the fold line itself: a nano-texture finish Apple says reduces glare, adhesives that let the display layers glide, and a stiffer cover material sitting over the hinge.
That gap between what people keep asking and what Apple actually states is the single most-repeated question about Apple’s first folding iPhone. Here is exactly what Apple’s product and tech specs pages say, and where each one stops.

What Apple’s display pages claim about the fold
Apple describes the 7.6-inch inner display as a Super Retina XDR OLED panel with a custom nano-texture finish, which Apple’s product page says reduces glare, plus what it calls an Apple-designed scratch-resistant coating. The same page calls it the largest and thinnest iPhone display Apple has built.

Apple’s tech specs page adds a more specific claim: the display layers are joined with optically clear adhesives that Apple says let the layers glide as the phone opens and closes. A custom polymer cover also sits over the inner display, which Apple states is 40 percent stiffer than what it calls the industry standard, layered over high-strength glass.
None of that wording claims the fold line is invisible. Apple’s claims describe glare and flex, not the absence of a visible line, and Apple has published no photo, video or measurement of the crease itself on either page.
What the hinge is built from, and what Apple has not rated
The hinge cover is 3D-printed from 100 percent recycled titanium, and Apple states the hinge mechanism has more than 100 components held together with custom adhesives designed for flex relief. The surrounding frame is Grade 5 titanium, and Apple’s own count puts the enclosure at 85 percent recycled titanium overall. Open, iPhone Duo measures 5.2 mm thick; closed, 11.3 mm; it weighs 254 g.
Apple has not published a durability rating to go with any of that. Apple’s own comparison of iPhone Duo against iPhone 18 Pro Max stops at materials and dimensions, not at how the hinge performs over time.
Is there a fold-cycle number
Apple has not published a fold-cycle rating, the number of times iPhone Duo’s hinge is engineered to open and close before wear becomes noticeable. Some of the most common pre-order searches look for a specific figure in the hundreds of thousands; Apple’s own pages carry no such number.
The IP68 rating iPhone Duo carries, to 6 meters for up to 30 minutes, covers dust and water ingress under a fixed lab test. It says nothing about hinge wear, and Apple has not connected the two ratings anywhere in its documentation.
Can you put a screen protector on it
Apple has not published guidance on screen protectors for the inner folding display. Its own accessory lineup for iPhone Duo runs to two products, the $79 iPhone Duo Case and the $129 iPhone Duo Folio with a built-in kickstand, and both cover the outside of a closed phone rather than the folding screen itself.
Apple’s own recap of everything announced at the September 9 event does not mention a screen protector for iPhone Duo at all, which leaves the question open rather than answered no.

What Apple has not said
Apple has not published a fold-cycle rating, screen-protector guidance for the inner display, the battery capacity in mAh, the amount of RAM, or a repair price for the folding display. Its standard warranty terms, which apply to iPhone Duo the same way they apply to every iPhone, exclude liquid damage regardless of the IP68 rating.
Pre-orders open Friday, October 16, at 5 a.m. Pacific, and the first units ship Friday, October 23. Until Apple updates its support pages, the fold count and the repair price for a cracked inner display remain the two biggest blanks in its own documentation.
