Apple has not published iPhone Duo production figures, but an analyst report says the first foldable iPhone may be particularly difficult to buy when it reaches customers in October.
Apple has announced the iPhone Duo’s October timetable and its starting price, but it does not publish a production forecast or a configuration-by-configuration inventory chart. That means there is no official basis yet for saying which model will be hardest to find, or whether delivery estimates will move once preorders begin.
The reported figure should therefore be treated as an analyst’s view of production, not a consumer-facing warning from Apple. Buyers who are undecided can still compare Apple’s published dates, prices and specifications before preorder day. The first actual indication of delivery pressure will be the estimates Apple shows after ordering opens.

In a research note seen by 9to5Mac, analyst Jeff Pu reportedly cut his 2026 iPhone Duo shipment estimate from 7 million to 6 million units. The report attributes the revision to hinge constraints that are said to be slowing production. Apple has not commented on the estimate or confirmed any supply limits.
The distinction matters: a third-party estimate is not an Apple availability notice. Apple’s public schedule remains unchanged. Preorders open October 16, with first deliveries and in-store availability beginning October 23 in more than 70 countries and regions.
