New iPhone Fold Dummy Units Reveal Apple’s Foldable Design in Detail

Fresh dummy unit images have provided the clearest look yet at Apple’s first foldable iPhone, giving us a better idea of what the company is preparing to launch later this year. While Apple has not confirmed the device’s name, reports continue to refer to it as the iPhone Fold, and the latest mockups showcase a design that closely matches previous rumors.

Large Inner Display and Compact Outer Screen

According to the leaked dummy units, Apple’s foldable phone will feature a 7.8-inch inner display that unfolds into a screen size comparable to an iPad mini. The images also show a front-facing camera positioned in the top-left corner of the main display, which differs from the centered camera layouts found on current iPhones.

When folded, the device reportedly uses a 5.5-inch outer display with a shorter and wider aspect ratio than existing iPhone models. This design gives the phone a compact, passport-like appearance while remaining easy to carry.

Touch ID Could Replace Face ID

The dummy models suggest Apple will skip Face ID on its foldable device and instead use Touch ID integrated into the side button. Users would rely on the fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device and authorizing Apple Pay transactions.

The phone is also expected to include two rear-facing cameras, although detailed camera specifications remain unknown at this stage.

Focus on Build Quality

Sonny Dickson shared the latest images and suggested that Apple may launch the foldable iPhone in a single white color option. Reports have also pointed to Apple’s focus on hinge durability and display quality, with several rumors claiming the screen crease will be nearly invisible.

Beyond hardware, Apple is expected to benefit from its extensive iPad app ecosystem, allowing the foldable iPhone to offer a strong software experience from day one.
