Apple’s next iPad mini could arrive between late October and November with an OLED display, a faster processor and a front camera moved to the landscape edge. The reported timing places the compact tablet after Apple’s October 13 smart-home event rather than alongside those home products.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the update is substantial but straightforward. Apple is not expected to reinvent the iPad mini’s basic purpose, but the display, processor and camera changes would address three visible differences between the small tablet and newer models elsewhere in the iPad lineup.
OLED can deliver deeper blacks and stronger contrast because each pixel produces its own light. However, the report does not identify the panel’s refresh rate, brightness, manufacturer or whether Apple will use the tandem OLED design found in high-end iPad Pro models.

The camera move helps landscape use
Placing the FaceTime camera on the longer edge centers the user during video calls when the tablet is held horizontally. Apple has already adopted that arrangement on other iPads, making the reported change more about consistency than a new type of camera feature.
A faster chip is also expected, but Apple has not announced the processor or memory configuration. A previous iPad mini code leak pointed to an A20 Pro, although leaked identifiers can reflect prototypes and should not be treated as a final specification.
MacObserver has also covered the broader report that an OLED iPad mini is approaching. The new late-October-to-November window is more specific, but pricing, storage tiers and regional availability remain unknown until Apple makes an announcement.
