OpenAI has reset usage limits for all paid subscriptions, giving users fresh capacity to continue using GPT-6 Astra as the work week begins. The global reset arrived after many users spent the weekend testing the new model across Codex and ChatGPT Work.
OpenAI resets usage for all paid subscriptions
The reset was announced on September 7 and rolled out at around 6 p.m. Pacific Time. It applies to paid subscriptions and refreshes the available usage capacity automatically, so users do not need to activate it manually.
OpenAI specifically mentioned users burning through their available Astra usage while experimenting with tasks such as 3D modeling in Blender. The company decided to refresh the limits before people returned to regular work following the weekend.

OpenAI’s help documentation confirms that Plus, Pro, and Business users received a global reset on September 7. Unlike a banked reset, this global reset applies immediately and cannot be saved for later use.
GPT-6 Astra rollout included extra resets
The latest reset follows additional usage allowances issued during the GPT-6 Astra launch. Existing Plus, Pro, and Business users in good standing received banked resets on September 3 and September 4.
A banked reset works differently because users can keep it until they need it or until it expires. Using a full banked reset refreshes both the five-hour and weekly Codex usage windows, while also changing the date of the next weekly reset.
GPT-6 Astra began rolling out on September 3 and is gradually becoming available across OpenAI’s paid plans. Plus subscribers can access Astra through ChatGPT Work and Codex, while higher-tier plans receive broader access depending on the product and rollout status.
The new global reset gives paid users another full usage window just as Astra starts seeing heavier use for coding, research and other complex professional tasks.
