Siri AI may reach the European Union months after other regions

Siri AI may remain unavailable in the European Union for months after its rollout elsewhere, and the wait could extend beyond the five-month gap seen with the original Apple Intelligence launch. Apple has not provided a firm EU release date, leaving customers without a reliable timetable.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that a five-month delay should be viewed as the best-case comparison rather than a promise. Apple Intelligence reached the EU about five months after its initial October 2024 release, but the regulatory dispute surrounding Siri AI could produce a longer wait.

Apple says the Digital Markets Act prevents it from launching Siri AI in the region under the same conditions available elsewhere.

“Unfortunately, due to the Digital Markets Act, Apple will not be able to ship Siri AI in the European Union with the release of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27.”

Apple and the EU disagree over responsibility

The European Commission has rejected Apple’s explanation and said the decision not to launch belongs to Apple. The disagreement centers on how competing assistants and services would receive access under the DMA, not on whether Siri AI exists in other supported markets.

The missing service also affects the value of new devices sold in the region because several promoted iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 features depend on Siri AI. Customers can still use the hardware, but they cannot access the same assistant experience available in supported countries.

MacObserver’s earlier analysis of Apple’s rejected DMA proposal explains the regulatory conflict. Until Apple publishes a date or reaches an agreement with regulators, EU customers should treat every estimated month as reporting rather than confirmed availability.
