Apple has changed Siri’s look in iOS 27 with a new glowing pill-shaped animation that expands from the Dynamic Island, giving the assistant a cleaner and more modern appearance on current iPhone models.
Instead of the older glowing light effect around the display, Siri now appears as a swirling orb that grows out of the Dynamic Island. This design also helps hide the current camera and sensor cutouts, much like other Dynamic Island animations across iOS.
Apple already uses a circular Siri orb in many places, including the new Siri app icon, iOS 27 promotional artwork, iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro. On the iPhone, however, the Dynamic Island hardware shape appears to force Siri into a wider pill-like design.
X user @MichalLangmajer suggested that this could change with the next-generation iPhone 18 Pro, as Apple is rumored to use a narrower Dynamic Island on the new Pro models.
iPhone 18 Pro Could Bring a Round Siri Orb
Several reports claim that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature a smaller Dynamic Island, helped by moving some Face ID components under the display.
Leaker Ice Universe has claimed that the cutout will be around 35 percent narrower than the one on the iPhone 17 Pro, shrinking from about 20.7mm to around 13.5mm. If that happens, Siri’s animation could finally appear as the circular orb Apple already uses across its other platforms.
