Tom Selleck has joined Apple TV’s upcoming untitled comedy series starring Elizabeth Banks, adding another familiar name to a growing ensemble that already includes Ted Danson, Rob Delaney, Katey Sagal, Hamish Linklater, Michelle Buteau, Simu Liu, Jared Goldstein, and Spencer Moss.
Deadline reports that Selleck will appear as a guest star, although Apple TV has not revealed details about his character or how many episodes will feature him. The role follows his 15-season run as Frank Reagan on CBS drama Blue Bloods, which ended after making Selleck one of television’s most recognizable long-running stars.
The half-hour comedy comes from creators Liz Heldens and Matt Ward and follows Heidi, played by Banks, as she rebuilds her life after a difficult divorce while raising her children. Her plans become more complicated when she gets involved in arranging her father’s retirement community romantic adventures and forms an unexpected connection with his girlfriend’s single son.

Apple TV comedy continues to expand its cast
Ted Danson will play Heidi’s father, while Linklater, Buteau, and Liu have recurring roles alongside the wider ensemble. Jonathan Krisel will direct the pilot, while Banks will also executive produce through Brownstone Productions.
20th Television is producing the series for Apple TV, but the streaming service has not announced an official title, premiere date, or episode count yet.
