tvOS 26.4 Public Beta 2 Rolls Out to Apple TV Users

tvOS 26.4 beta 1 now available for Apple TV developers

Apple has started rolling out tvOS 26.4 public beta 2 for Apple TV, expanding access beyond developers. The update arrives a day after tvOS 26.4 developer beta 2 landed on February 23, 2026, keeping the 26.4 test cycle moving at a steady pace.

Public beta 2 carries the build number 23L5219e.

How to update

  1. Open Settings on your Apple TV.
  2. Go to System.
  3. Select Software Updates.
  4. Turn on Get Public Beta Updates (or confirm it is already on).
  5. Choose Update Software and follow the prompts.

Tip: If you do not see the toggle for public betas, make sure your Apple TV is enrolled in Apple’s Beta Software Program, then check Software Updates again.

Changes in tvOS 26.4 so far

Apple has not published a long public feature list for tvOS 26.4, but beta testers have already spotted a few clear shifts.

1) iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps are gone

tvOS 26.4 removes the dedicated iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps from Apple TV, pushing purchases and browsing into the Apple TV app instead.

2) A new HDMI audio option targets dropouts and quirks

tvOS 26.4 introduces an HDMI setting called Continuous Audio Connection. It aims to keep the audio link steady when content switches formats, which can reduce pops, brief dropouts, and volume jumps on some setups.

3) Audio labels and controls keep evolving

The 26.4 cycle also tweaks parts of the audio format experience, including changes to how certain options are named and presented in Settings.

As for what’s new specifically in public beta 2, early reports point more toward fixes and refinement than brand-new features.

If you have installed tvOS 26.4 public beta 2, tell us what changed for you. Did it improve audio stability, or did you notice any new issues? Drop your notes in the comments.
