Apple has released watchOS 26.6 public beta 1 for Apple Watch users enrolled in the public beta program. The update arrives just days after the first developer beta and gives testers early access to Apple’s next watchOS update before its public release.
While watchOS 26.6 does not appear to introduce major new features, it continues Apple’s work on performance improvements, bug fixes, and system refinements ahead of WWDC 2026.

With WWDC set to begin on June 8, Apple is expected to shift most of its focus to watchOS 27 and other next-generation software announcements. That makes watchOS 26.6 likely one of the final maintenance updates for the current watchOS 26 cycle.
How to update
- Open the Watch app on your paired iPhone.
- Tap General.
- Select Software Update.
- Download and install watchOS 26.6 Public Beta 1.
- Make sure your Apple Watch has at least 50% battery and is connected to its charger during installation.
All the changes
Apple has not detailed any major new watchOS 26.6 features so far, and the release notes currently do not highlight significant additions. Early testing suggests this update is mainly focused on stability improvements, bug fixes, security updates, and overall system optimization.
The beta follows the recent watchOS 26.5 release, which introduced the Pride Luminance watch face and several bug fixes. With watchOS 27 expected to be unveiled at WWDC, Apple appears to be using watchOS 26.6 to fine-tune the current software experience before the next major version arrives.
watchOS 26 itself introduced features such as the Liquid Glass design, Smart Stack enhancements, Workout Buddy, Wrist Flick gestures, and the Notes app on Apple Watch, and those features remain part of the platform in watchOS 26.6.
