Apple Shares 'Cascade' Experiments Video Shot on iPhone XS

Over the weekend Apple shared a video called ‘Cascade’ shot on iPhone XS by Donghoon Jun and James Thornton of Incite in collaboration with WET.

The video offers incredibly close-up looks at water in a variety of different environments, showcasing the potential of the iPhone XS camera. The video shows off features such as slo-mo, 4K, and more.

It’s a beautiful video and part of Apple’s Experiments series.

As expected, the latest “Shot on iPhone” video landed Thursday, to celebrate Chinese New Year. Shot on an iPhone XS by filmmaker Jia Zhangke, The Bucket tells the story of a man heading to the city for Chinese New Year, and the bucket his mother gives him for his travels filled with the taste of home.

Shot on iPhone XS Chinese New Year

Apple looks set to release a new “Shot on iPhone XS” film in the near future. 9to5Mac picked up on Chinese reports which indicated that the new clip will be will be released to coincide with Chinese New Year. Those reports suggested that the latest iPhone XS short will be officially announced on January 25th. Apple released a “Shot on iPhone XS” film back in September 2018. It showed off the camera’s slow motion, time-lapse, and 4K capabilities.

A post on Chinese social network shares what appears to be teaser materials for the film. Text invites you to click on text to reveal the protagonist of the film, and doing so reveals a man with a taped-up bucket … Other text asks whose story will be told, and how the secret will be kept, revealing further images of the man on the back of a motorcycle and a closer shot of the bucket.

Pro Photographer Tyler Stalman Reviews iPhone XR, XS Cameras

Professional photographer Tyler Stalman reviews the iPhone XR and iPhone XS cameras in a video. He talks about all of the new features, like Smart HDR, the new image signal processor, and how the wide-angle lens is slightly wider than previous models. Speaking of Smart HDR, he noted that it only works with video shot at 30 fps or lower. But it works whether you’re shooting in 720p, 1080p, or 4K. Mr. Stalman also notes something he found that can correct the blurring problems around the edges of subjects when you shoot in Portrait Mode.

Three New Colors for Apple iPhone XS Cases

Apple has released its iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max silicone cases in three new colors. The new colors are Hibiscus, Mellow Yellow and Pacific Green. The case costs $39. The company also introduced Apple Watch Sport Bands in the three new colors, at a cost $49. In addition, there are new Nike Sports bands in Celestial/Black, Olive Flak/Black and Smokey Mauve/Particle Beige for the same price. The cases will be ready for delivery on Monday and in-store on Tuesday (via MacRumors).
