Apple is getting ready to bring its digital car key feature to select Audi models in China. Evidence seen inside Apple’s backend, first highlighted by MacRumors, shows Audi’s joint venture with FAW now listed among supported partners. This move signals that Apple is expanding Car Keys to more automakers in the Chinese market.
The FAW partnership covers both fuel and electric Audi vehicles sold in China. While the internal listing confirms Apple’s progress, it remains unclear which exact models will get the feature. Even so, the update shows that Apple and Audi are moving toward deeper integration, especially as more drivers start to expect smartphone-based access.

Last month, Apple added car key support for SAIC-Audi, another local collaboration focused on EVs. That rollout helped set the stage for the FAW expansion. Now, with both partnerships showing movement, Audi appears closer to offering the feature across more of its Chinese lineup.
How Apple Car Keys Work
Car Keys lets you unlock a vehicle by holding your iPhone or Apple Watch near the door’s NFC reader. The digital key lives in the Wallet app, making the experience feel fast and direct. A quick tap on the door handle triggers the unlock. You can enable Face ID for an extra layer of security, or turn on Express Mode for instant access without authentication.
Apple confirmed at WWDC 2025 that Audi was one of 13 brands set to support digital car keys soon. The list also included Acura, Porsche, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Rivian, Smart, Lucid Motors, Tata Motors, Hongqi, WEY, Chery, and Voyah. Audi now looks closer to joining the companies already moving ahead with Apple’s system.
