Chrome on iPhone Shows New Gemini Cards for First-Time Users

Screenshots of Chrome on iOS showing new Gemini cards with tasks like Learn, Shop and Create image, along with the Gemini options menu.

Google is testing a change to the Gemini panel inside Chrome for iPhone. When you open Gemini from the Page Tools menu, the browser now shows a row of onboarding cards that highlight things you can try on the current page.

These cards appear before you type anything. The list includes Create image, Summarize, Learn and Shop. Each card shows a short prompt that gives a sense of what Gemini can do with the page you are viewing.

The Create image card asks Gemini to make an image based on a theme. The Summarize card gives a short summary of the article. The Learn card turns the page into a quiz. The Shop card compares products when the page contains items or reviews.

This layout helps first-time Gemini users toward tasks without expecting them to think of a prompt. It also works as a small discovery layer inside Chrome on iOS because the cards relate to the content on the webpage.

In my test, the Create image option stood out the most. The card produced a detailed image from a simple prompt, and the result felt accurate for the theme. It is the clearest example of how Gemini uses the page to give a starting point.

This currently appears in Chrome Beta on iOS and may show up when users open Gemini for the first time. Google may bring it to more users in the public Chrome for iOS release.

As we reported before, Chrome on iOS is also testing Reading Mode along with new tab page customization features that include wallpapers and themes.
