Google Denies Copying Apple’s Liquid Glass Design For Android

Android liquid glass design trailer

People are talking about a fresh design fight between two giant tech brands. Many users noticed that a recent teaser video for the upcoming Android update looks very similar to something Apple recently launched. Specifically, worried fans thought the shiny and clear effects copied the famous Liquid Glass style.

Even though the video sparked rumors, Google says it has no plans to copy its rival.

Android ecosystem president confirms the new design is not happening

The confusion started when a short promotional video dropped for an upcoming developer event. The video showed the famous green robot mascot pulling a light switch and turning completely translucent. This glowing look immediately made users think the company was moving toward a glassy interface. People flooded social media to beg the software team not to bring these heavy visual changes to their phones.

Sameer Samat leads the ecosystem team and quickly jumped online to calm everyone down. He responded directly to panicked fans on social media by saying the redesign was simply not happening. Instead of borrowing ideas, the team plans to stick with its own Material 3 Expressive visual style.

This existing look uses bright colors and smoother animations rather than heavy transparent layers.

Some critics still believe the transparent effects look too similar

Despite the official denial, tech writers and fans noticed how close the promo video looked to the competition. The glowing and clear robot looks incredibly similar to the interface elements found in the latest iOS updates. Observers pointed out that the promotional art felt like a direct nod to the recent software changes from the other brand.

The main reason fans panicked is that the glassy look has a mixed reputation. Many users feel that clear menus and floating buttons make the screen look too busy and hard to read.

Both companies will continue to push new visual updates, but it seems like your phone will not be getting a forced transparent makeover anytime soon. We will learn more when the official developer event kicks off later this month.
