If you spend time scrolling through short videos on your phone, you might soon do the same thing to find a movie. The streaming service Prime Video just launched a new feature called Clips inside its mobile application. This tool provides a vertical feed filled with quick movie and show snippets you can swipe through. It acts as an easy way to sample new entertainment before committing to a full episode.
Scroll through short snippets to discover new movies and shows
The new Clips section lives right on the main screen of the application. You just tap on the carousel to enter a full-screen vertical feed that looks similar to social media platforms. From there, you can flick through brief highlights of different titles currently available on the service.
Every time you open the feed, it shows you fresh content based on your past viewing history. If a specific clip catches your attention, you can instantly start watching the full title, save it to your watchlist for later, or share it with a friend. The system also gives you the option to rent or buy the title directly from the feed if it is not included in your regular subscription.
The feature is rolling out to mobile devices this summer
Right now, the company is testing the tool with select users in the United States. You can find it on the iPhone, Android phones, and Fire tablets. If you do not see it on your device yet, you just need to wait a little bit. Make sure you keep your application updated. Amazon says the feature will be available to all of its mobile users by the end of the summer.
This move makes sense since finding something to watch is often the hardest part of opening a streaming app. By giving people a quick and familiar way to preview content, the service hopes to cut down on browsing time so you can actually start enjoying a show.
