Shrinking only wrapped its third season last month, but Apple TV already appears to be moving fast on the next chapter. Harrison Ford has now shared that Shrinking season 4 starts filming next week, which gives the show a strong chance of returning sooner than many streaming viewers expect.
Variety reported that Ford confirmed the update during a discussion of his new Glenmorangie Harrison Ford Limited Edition whisky. The actor said the cast has 12 episodes to shoot, which also makes the new season longer than many current streaming comedy-drama runs.

Shrinking Season 4 Is Already Moving Quickly
The timing matters because Shrinking does not need the long post-production cycle that slows down shows built around heavy visual effects. Since season 3 ended in early April, a production start this soon suggests an early 2027 premiere window, assuming filming and editing stay on track.
That would be good news for Apple TV viewers who have grown used to long waits between seasons. Streaming has changed the rhythm of television, with shorter seasons and wider gaps replacing the predictable yearly broadcast schedule.
A New Story Is Coming
Variety also reported that Shrinking season 4 will include a time jump and follow different storylines, while the main cast, including Ford, Jason Segel, Jessica Williams, and Michael Urie, will return.
Series creator Bill Lawrence said the team wanted to explore a new story for these characters, and the writers are already deep into season 4. For viewers, that suggests Shrinking will keep its familiar cast while giving the show a fresh direction instead of stretching the same emotional arc for too long.
