Apple TV Renews ‘Knife Edge’ Cooking Show For A Second Season

Knife Edge

If you enjoyed watching top chefs sweat it out in the kitchen, you are in luck. Just today, Apple TV announced it will bring back the popular cooking documentary series ‘Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars’ for a second season. The show follows real cooks at some of the best restaurants in the world as they fight to earn or keep their prestigious culinary awards.

Gordon Ramsay highlights the extreme pressure chefs face every day

The famous celebrity chef serves as an executive producer for the series through his own production company, Studio Ramsay Global. He believes the unscripted show captures a very real and difficult struggle that fine dining workers face today. He noted that the daily fight to maintain excellence takes a massive toll on the kitchen staff.

Here’s what Ramsay said about the show’s relevance and impact:

Now, more than ever restaurants around the world are under enormous pressure to not just strive for perfection, but to survive,” Ramsay shared about the renewal. “The economic tolls of an industry struggling, means the stakes have never been so high. With globally evolving dining standards, ‘Knife Edge’ reveals the stress, the pressure, the resilience needed to hold your nerve in the battle for greatness, it’s honestly brutal.

Personally, I continue to be so proud of the passion in our industry, the drive and ambition in those hungry newcomers, the rising talents and those indomitable chefs all continuing to push for Michelin’s exacting recognition.

The upcoming eight episodes feature more intense global restaurant battles

Just like the first run, the new season will feature eight episodes hosted by food and travel expert Jesse Burgess. The camera crew plans to follow different restaurant teams around the globe as they deal with anonymous food inspectors who grade their every move. During the first season, the show travelled to places like New York, Chicago, Ireland, and Mexico to highlight these intense kitchen battles.

Earning one of these rare stars can completely change the future of a business, while losing one can force a place to shut its doors for good. The team at Apple has not shared a release date yet, but fans can expect more high-stakes drama and beautifully cooked meals when the new episodes finally hit the streaming service.
