A new FCC filing has revealed an unreleased Apple-made audio product, and the listing points to a pair of “Bluetooth over-ear headphones” that Apple has not announced yet. The filing, first spotted by MacRumors through Aaron Perris, carries the model number A3577 and confirms that the product includes “an integral battery, microphone and antenna.”
The filing itself stays extremely limited because Apple requested confidentiality for most supporting documents, which is common before new hardware launches. Still, the appearance of a new headphone product inside the FCC database strongly suggests that Apple is preparing another audio release behind the scenes.
FCC filing reveals very little about the headphones
Under a section titled “Device Under Test (DUT) Information,” the filing describes the product simply as:
“Bluetooth over-ear headphones,” with “an integral battery, microphone and antenna.”
The documents also state they were “prepared for Apple Inc.” followed by Apple’s official address, confirming that the company is directly tied to the submission.
One diagram included in the filing reportedly shows a generic headphone ear cup with FCC label placement, but it does not reveal any branding or design details that identify the product family.
Beats headphones seem more likely than AirPods Max
The filing has already triggered speculation around whether these headphones belong to the AirPods lineup or the Beats brand. Right now, the Beats theory appears more realistic because Apple recently refreshed the AirPods Max lineup.
Apple’s internal model numbering system also does not help much because both AirPods and Beats products use similar “A####” identifiers. The current AirPods Max models use numbers like A3454 and A3184, while Beats Studio Pro previously appeared in FCC filings as A2924.
Since the Beats Studio Pro launched back in July 2023, the new A3577 filing could point to a successor that Apple plans to release later this year.
