Christopher Nolan Rises Into Letterboxd’s Top 10 Directors With Seven Acclaimed Films

Christopher Nolan has strengthened his position among Letterboxd’s most represented directors, with seven of his movies now included in the platform’s Top 500 Films list.

Letterboxd ranks narrative feature films using average ratings submitted by its members. The official list requires a film to have at least 25,000 ratings, which prevents titles with only a small number of high scores from entering the ranking.

The Dark Knight remains Nolan’s highest-ranked film at number 24, followed closely by Interstellar at number 34. Both movies continue to receive strong ratings years after their original releases.

The Prestige, Inception, Memento, and Oppenheimer also appear in the Top 500, showing the lasting popularity of Nolan’s thrillers, science-fiction stories, and historical dramas.

The Odyssey Raises Nolan’s Total to Seven

Nolan previously had six films on the list. However, The Odyssey entered the ranking at number 115 during the July 19, 2026 update, increasing his total to seven.

The addition gives Nolan another major achievement and places him among a small group of directors with several films represented in Letterboxd’s highest-rated selection.

His rankings also show the wide appeal of his work. Nolan has earned recognition for superhero films, space adventures, psychological mysteries, historical stories, and large-scale action movies.

Since Letterboxd rankings change as members add new ratings, individual positions can rise or fall. Still, placing seven films inside the Top 500 highlights Nolan’s strong reputation among modern movie audiences.
