The massive change in leadership at Apple is moving forward quickly, and the two men at the center of it all are finally talking about the big switch. Current chief executive Tim Cook and his incoming replacement, John Ternus, recently sat down for a joint interview while attending a major Hollywood event. The two leaders answered questions about handing over the keys to the tech empire and what the future holds for the company’s streaming efforts.
Both leaders feel extremely positive about the upcoming transition
The interview took place at the red carpet premiere for the fourth season of Ted Lasso in Los Angeles, where both executives wore matching suits with pins showing their support for the show. When asked about his long run running the giant tech brand, Cook was clearly emotional. “I feel so much gratitude to have been the CEO of Apple for 15 years and to work with all of the people that I get to work with, it’s a privilege of a lifetime,” Cook explained.

Cook also gave an update on how the leadership handoff is going before he steps down to become executive chairman in September. He noted that the process is moving smoothly across the board. “It’s over the top great. John is the perfect person for this role, and the whole thing has just been great — the employee piece, the investor piece, everything,” Cook said.
Ternus shared that same energy when talking about his massive promotion to the top job. “It’s amazing. I mean, what an incredible opportunity! It’s so exciting for me. I’ve been at Apple for 25 years, I love Apple, and to have this opportunity is beyond words,” Ternus stated. However, he kept his immediate plans a secret, telling the reporter, “You have to wait and see” when asked what his very first move as CEO will be.
The incoming boss also took time to praise the team running the streaming platform. “I am just so excited about the momentum we have. There’s so much great content on Apple TV, and now is just the perfect time for us to keep the momentum up,” Ternus said. With September fast approaching, it is clear that the transition is moving ahead smoothly as the company prepares for its next major chapter.
