Holiday movies are already lining up for next year, and a new one just announced its two major stars. Jennifer Aniston and Peter Dinklage are set to lead the cast in Naughty, a new R-rated Christmas comedy directed by Olivia Wilde. Universal Pictures just picked up the project, which aims to bring a bit of edge to the usual festive cheer by mixing a messy divorce battle with a trip to the North Pole.
The story involves a custody battle and a trip to find Santa
The movie follows Mallory, played by Aniston, a single mother who is currently locked in a brutal custody fight with her ex-husband. According to the official synopsis, she is desperate for a way to win her case against her “gaslighting trash-bag ex.” Her final, slightly unhinged strategy is to track down the one witness who knows exactly who has been bad or good: Santa Claus himself.

Peter Dinklage takes on the role of Saint Nick, a casting choice that fans are already pointing out is quite a promotion from his beloved role as a grumpy author in the holiday classic Elf. Mallory’s goal is to convince Santa to take the stand in court and testify on her behalf during the divorce hearing.
The movie is described as having a mischievous and slightly darker tone than the usual Hallmark holiday fare. The original script comes from Jimmy Warden, who recently wrote Cocaine Bear.
If you are already looking forward to seeing Aniston drag Santa into a courtroom, you will have to wait a little while. Universal Pictures currently has the movie scheduled for a theatrical release on November 5, 2027.
