Oklahoma lays the groundwork for digital IDs in Apple Wallet
Earlier this year, a House bill passed that lets Service Oklahoma issue mobile versions of state ID cards and driver permits. This step looks like the preparation needed for the technology company to bring Wallet integration to the state. When the feature launches, it will give residents a digital backup for their physical cards.
State officials clarify that this digital version will not replace physical identification. Oklahomans must still carry their standard plastic cards for official purposes. The digital option simply acts as a convenient companion for specific scenarios, like getting through select TSA checkpoints at airports or verifying your identity at certain business venues and apps.
If you are waiting for this feature in a state that does not support it yet, there is an alternative. You can add a United States passport to your device using the new Digital ID feature introduced in iOS 26.
