Tech giant Apple recently rolled out a new update for its experimental web browser. The launch of Safari Technology Preview 251 brings a massive batch of bug fixes and performance upgrades for people who are currently testing the software. This special build gives developers and regular internet users a chance to try out upcoming features before they officially arrive in the standard consumer release.

The latest browser update introduces major fixes and background improvements

The experimental Safari browser first launched back in March 2016. Its main goal is to gather feedback on the development process before new tools reach the general public. While it is built primarily for developers, you do not need a special developer account to download and use it. It also runs right alongside your standard browser without causing any conflicts.

If you already have the preview installed, you can grab the latest version through the software update menu in your system settings. You just need to be running macOS Tahoe or macOS Golden Gate to install it.

The newest update packs hundreds of background tweaks. According to the official release notes, the update includes:

  • Over two hundred specific bug fixes across the entire platform.
  • More than fifty new technical features for developers to test.
  • Better memory management for certain web developer tools.
  • Updates to how the software handles specific web code and text.

Trying out these experimental builds is a great way to see where web technology is heading. With this massive list of technical improvements, the development team is clearly working hard to make the browsing experience smoother for everyone when the final public version drops.
