Spoilers for MobLand Season 2, Episode 1 follow. Frankie is the proxy Kat McAllister needs to wage a war against the Harrigans without tying herself directly to every act of violence. Tattersall presents him as the “knight” who can fight in her interests, and the premiere ends when Tattersall meets the new fixer.
Kat’s problem is political as well as criminal. She is operating at a distance and wants London under her influence, but a public move against the Harrigans would put her reputation at risk. Frankie gives her a person who can do the direct work while she keeps her hands clean.
That makes Frankie’s name more important than a late-episode introduction. Kat has ambitions large enough to require intermediaries, and Tattersall’s offer tells the audience that her next move will be carried out by people built for visible, deniable conflict.

Tattersall offers Kat a proxy
After Seraphina leaves Kat’s meeting, Tattersall makes his own proposal. He calls himself a middleman and offers to find a paladin, a person who can fight Kat’s battle in the United Kingdom. The offer is attractive because Kat can expand her influence without appearing as the person issuing every order.
That is the function Frankie is introduced to serve. He is not simply another Harrigan rival. He is the operational answer to Kat’s need for deniability, someone who can become visible in the street-level war while the person with the larger ambition remains insulated.
Kat needs distance from the violence
Episode 1 establishes that Kat is already arranging deals around the Harrigans. Gakbu confirms that she has helped set up his arrangement with Kevin, and Harry treats that confirmation as proof that the family is being attacked through connected interests rather than random chaos.
Frankie therefore arrives at the right time for Kat. Harry is alert to her involvement, the Harrigans are divided and a direct representative can exploit those fractures. The more other people do the visible damage, the easier it is for Kat to deny that she is directing the campaign.
The finale introduces a threat, not a solution
Tattersall’s meeting with Frankie is the episode’s closing warning. Viewers know the role Kat wants filled, but the premiere does not yet show how Frankie will carry it out or whether he will remain controllable once the conflict escalates.
