Apple Original Films has released the trailer for Tenzing, a drama about Tenzing Norgay’s role in the first confirmed ascent of Mount Everest. The film opens in select theaters on October 9 before its global Apple TV debut on October 16.
Genden Phuntsok plays Norgay, the Nepali-Indian mountaineer who reached Everest’s summit with Edmund Hillary in 1953. The film centers on Norgay’s path to that expedition and the unequal recognition that followed the historic climb.
A story beyond the summit
Tenzing is directed by Jennifer Peedom, whose previous work includes the Everest documentary Mountain. Tom Hiddleston plays Hillary, while the supporting cast includes Mark Strong, Sam Neill and Sia Trokenheim.
