Following a recent International Emmy Award nomination, Apple TV is bringing back its popular French-language series Carême for a second season. The streaming service plans to start filming the new episodes next week in Paris. The show follows the life of Antonin Carême, who is widely known as the world’s first celebrity chef. Actor Benjamin Voisin returns to play the famous cook who climbed his way out of poverty to work in Napoleon’s Europe.
The new season shoots at historic sites with returning stars
Filming will take place at real monuments in and around Paris. The production crew plans to shoot at places like the Palais des Tuileries, Château de Fontainebleau, Château de Chantilly, and Château de Compiègne.
Martin Bourboulon is returning to direct the series. The cast also features César Award nominee Jérémie Renier and Alice Da Luz alongside César Award winner Voisin.

The story itself comes from Ian Kelly’s book about the real historical chef. Kelly and Davide Serino created the television adaptation. Vanessa van Zuylen with VVZ Production and Dominique Farrugia with Shine Fiction serve as executive producers on the project for Apple TV.
The plot focuses on Carême as he chases his dream of becoming a global master chef. As his culinary skills get noticed, powerful politicians force him to work as a spy for France. He ends up facing hard choices between getting revenge or chasing wealth, women, and fame. Taking the deal could mean losing his soul and the people he loves.
Apple TV has not shared a release date for the upcoming season yet. However, it offers the show to users in over 100 countries. Anyone with a subscription can stream the first season while waiting for the new episodes to finish production.
