Maggie now has two identities to reconcile
Ian sees the missing child he has searched for, while Maggie understands herself through the name Sarah and the parents who raised her. The finale cannot resolve that conflict simply by proving biology.
That sequence connects the immediate danger to an older wound. It is not simply a surprise appearance or a convenient clue. The returning information changes what the central characters believe they are trying to protect.
The scene is also careful about point of view. Viewers receive enough information to understand the development, but the people inside the story do not all possess the same facts. That imbalance explains why the next decision can still produce conflict after the reveal.
Ian is alive but moving toward another confrontation
Ian leaves hospital, takes a gun and forces Donald to tell him where Henry is heading. That decision may bring him closer to Maggie, but it also risks confirming every frightening story Henry has told about the outside world.
