The first development establishes the practical stakes. It gives the audience a concrete reason to care before the story widens into questions about loyalty, adaptation choices or what another episode might explore.
A recap must choose momentum over completeness
Episode 2 moves from the first Grand Line dangers toward the meeting with Chopper. Supporting characters who do not change that path can be reduced or omitted without declaring that they never existed.
