Apple is now accepting App Store submissions for apps and games optimized for iPhone Duo. The move gives developers time to publish updates before Apple’s foldable iPhone reaches customers on October 23.

In an October 5 developer notice, Apple said developers can build or recompile their apps with Xcode 27.1 and submit them through App Store Connect immediately. The update follows the release of the iPhone Duo simulator and SDKs in Xcode 27.1.

Apple is also offering Device Hub tools that show how an app behaves across the phone’s different poses and orientations. Developers can preview updated screenshots, app previews, product-page headers and search-result assets before sending an update for review.

What developers need to check

Apps built with the iOS 27 SDK or later can resize dynamically as iPhone Duo moves between its outer and inner displays. Apple warns that fixed orientations, hard-coded screen sizes and other device assumptions can leave interfaces stretched, clipped or misplaced.

Older apps will still run, but Apple says builds made with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier will not adapt to every layout. Teams should therefore test navigation, safe areas, multitasking and fold transitions instead of assuming an existing iPhone interface will scale cleanly.

Apple has separately confirmed that iPhone Duo ships with iOS 27.1. Pre-orders open October 16, followed by availability in the first group of countries and regions on October 23. Developers can submit updates before owning the hardware, then follow with device-tested revisions after launch.
