iOS 27.2 beta 3 appears to make the Photos app grid slightly denser. The change reduces some empty space around thumbnails, allowing images to occupy a little more of the Collections view.
A tester first pointed out the difference in the iOS 27.2 beta 3 discussion, describing the grid as tighter than it looked in beta 2. Apple does not mention a Photos layout change in its beta release listing.
The tester did not report a new editing or organization tool. The observation is limited to spacing and thumbnail presentation, so it should not be described as a broader redesign of Photos.

A small change that may not survive
Because this is prerelease software, the layout can change again before the public update. Apple lists beta 3 as build 24B5099f but does not publish a note confirming this visual adjustment.
The difference is also subtle enough that users may not notice it without comparing the same view on two builds. It should not be described as a complete Photos redesign or a change to the way the library stores images.
Beta testers who see clipping or unusually large gaps should report the specific device and display settings through Feedback Assistant. Everyone else can wait for the stable release rather than installing beta software for this visual adjustment.
The observation comes from one community comparison, not an Apple change log. A matching before-and-after view on the same iPhone would be needed to measure the spacing difference reliably. across different devices and settings.
