iOS 27.2 Beta 4 Gives Apple Music a New Black-and-White App Icon

iOS 27.2 Beta 4 Gives Apple Music a New Black-and-White App Icon

Apple has introduced a new black-and-white Apple Music app icon with iOS 27.2 beta 4, replacing the familiar red-and-white design that has been part of the app for years. The update arrived on October 13 with build number 24B5110a, bringing several additional visual changes to Apple Music.

The redesigned icon follows Apple’s recent branding changes, including a new Apple Music logo introduced in iOS 27.2 beta 3. Together, these changes suggest Apple is gradually updating the service’s appearance across its platforms.

What Does the New Apple Music Icon Look Like?

The updated icon uses a simpler design that automatically adjusts to your iPhone’s appearance settings. In Light Mode, it features a black music note against a white background, while Dark Mode reverses those colors.

Apple has also made small adjustments to the music note itself, giving it a slightly sharper appearance.

Apple Music Gets More Design Changes

Beyond the app icon, iOS 27.2 beta 4 introduces several interface adjustments that continue the Apple Music redesign first spotted in beta 1.

The latest changes include:

  • Blue navigation highlights: The selected tab now appears blue instead of red.
  • Black widget backgrounds: Apple Music widgets replace their previous red styling with darker backgrounds.
  • Redesigned Library sections: Icons beside Playlists, Albums, Artists, and Songs now use monochrome styling.
  • Updated Settings colors: Selected text and interface accents switch from red to blue.

These changes primarily affect the app’s appearance, with no corresponding changes announced for music playback or subscriptions.

When Will the New Apple Music Icon Be Available?

The redesigned Apple Music icon is currently available to developers testing iOS 27.2 beta 4. Apple has not confirmed whether the new design will remain unchanged in the final release.

The company is expected to release iOS 27.2 publicly later in October. You can follow the update through Apple’s official beta release notes.
