Talking to your iPhone just got a lot more natural. The latest software update from Apple brings a massive boost to the digital assistant that millions use every day. With the arrival of the iOS 27 testing cycle, the company is giving Siri AI some major new skills that make it much smarter. Instead of just answering basic questions or setting timers, the helper can now understand the context of what you are doing on your phone and take action across different apps to get things done for you.
New tools let the assistant control your apps and screen
The biggest change in this release is how Siri works inside other applications. Before this update, the assistant could only do simple things outside of the main phone features. Now, developers can connect their own apps directly to the voice assistant. This means the system can read what is currently on your screen and figure out what you want to do with it.
If a friend texts you a photo of a new restaurant, you can simply tell your phone to pull up the menu. The system handles many other complex chores too. You can ask the assistant to check your food delivery status, book a restaurant table, search an online store, order your usual coffee, and check on a package delivery. You can also tell it to find a specific photo of a sunset from last week and send it to your mom. The helper even manages your web browsing by sorting, moving, and closing tabs in Safari. It handles all the steps for you without making you tap through different screens.

These improvements are part of the recent beta test release, giving users an early look at what is coming. To make the assistant helpful for more people around the world, the testing phase expands language support. The system can now understand and speak Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, Turkish, and Norwegian. The updated software also remembers your personal details better, so it can give you answers that fit your life.
To keep your information safe, apps still have to ask for your permission before the assistant can use any of your private data to complete a task.
