Plot
Spoilers for the basic premise ahead.
“Brothers” begins after Woody’s daughter’s wedding falls apart, prompting him to take his family to Austin and stay at Matthew’s ranch. The trip is supposed to give everyone some time to recover, but Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac, played by Holland Taylor, accidentally reveals a secret that changes the direction of the visit.
Her revelation suggests Matthew and Woody might actually be brothers. Woody starts looking for answers and creates more chaos around the ranch, while Matthew has another major decision hanging over him as he considers a possible run for Governor of Texas. The series uses their friendship, families and public personas to build a comedy around the increasingly blurred line between their fictional and real lives.
