Fans of sharp, funny, and emotional television have something fresh to look forward to. The popular streaming platform Apple TV just announced a brand new project that sounds like a perfect fit for its growing catalog. Academy Award nominee Toni Collette is set to lead a new comedy and drama series called Lenni, which is currently filming and will be streaming globally in the near future once production finishes.

A chaotic family life collides with high stakes social work

Collette plays the main character, a divorced social worker and mother of two kids who spends her days trying to save other people’s families. The catch is that her own home life is an absolute mess. Following a family tragedy, she tries hard to protect her loved ones while managing the rough day to day grind. During this season, viewers will see her take on a brand new child welfare case that blurs the lines between her personal problems and her professional duties.

Here is a quick look at the main details for the upcoming series:

This new project is actually an adaptation of a hit Norwegian series called Pernille, originally created by Henriette Steenstrup. To bring it to English speaking audiences, writer Sarah Scheller handled the adaptation. The show also scored a great director, with Emmy winner Dearbhla Walsh stepping in to lead the production. Both Walsh and Collette are also serving as executive producers on the project alongside the original creator.

It takes a lot of talent to balance a dark mystery with lighthearted family chaos, but this team seems ready to pull it off. With an incredible leading actress who knows how to handle complex emotions, and a strong crew behind the camera, this series has all the right ingredients to become another big talking point for Apple and its entertainment division.

While viewers might have to wait a little while before the first trailer drops, the premise alone is enough to build excitement. Keep an eye out for an official release date announcement in the coming months as production wraps up down in Australia.
