Apple TV Rumored to Back Christopher Nolan's $650 Million Sci-Fi Movie, But There's a Catch

Christopher Nolan is reportedly making a $650 million sci-fi heist movie starring Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves, with Apple and IMAX backing the project. However, the viral claims appear to originate from a parody account, and no credible source has confirmed the film’s existence.

The rumor also suggests Nolan plans to detonate a real decommissioned satellite in low Earth orbit to avoid using CGI, although there is no evidence supporting this extraordinary production claim.

Where Did Christopher Nolan’s New Movie Rumor Come From?

According to Sacnilk, the speculation originated from an October 29 social media post by HavocCrave, an account that identifies itself as a parody and satire outlet.

The post claimed that Cruise and Reeves were in early negotiations for a mind-bending sci-fi heist thriller directed by Nolan.

However, neither actor has announced the project, while Apple and IMAX have made no official announcements about financing a $650 million production.

Similarly, no credible reports confirm plans to destroy an actual satellite during filming.

Christopher Nolan Previously Discussed His Next Movie

The claims also conflict with Nolan’s recent comments about his filmmaking schedule.

In July 2026, Nolan told NBC’s Today that he expected to take at least three years before directing another movie following the demanding production of The Odyssey.

As Variety reported, the director explained that filming the epic pushed his physical stamina and production team to their limits.

His latest film, The Odyssey, arrived in theaters on July 17, 2026, starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson.

Universal Pictures has since confirmed that the film surpassed $1.7 billion worldwide.

For now, Nolan’s rumored collaboration with Cruise and Reeves remains unverified, with no confirmed cast, studio agreement, production schedule, or release date.
