Apple TV’s synopsis confirms the meeting but does not identify the person, so the strongest conclusion before Episode 6 airs is that the encounter will test her trust rather than reveal a confirmed new villain.
The timing makes the meeting important. Jason’s fractured story has dominated the season, while Daniela has had to judge versions of a man who share memories but not choices. A person who knew her before those events can challenge the idea that her future must remain organized around Jason.

Daniela finally gets a story outside Jason
Season 2 has repeatedly asked what makes a person authentic when memories and relationships can be copied. Daniela has carried the human cost of that question. She knows that familiarity is not enough, because an alternate Jason can know intimate details and still make decisions her husband would never make.
Someone from her own past gives her a different reference point. That character may remember Daniela before marriage, motherhood and the box changed her priorities. Even if the meeting is friendly, it can expose how much of her identity has been compressed into surviving the choices made by different Jasons.
The mystery is the person, not the consequence
Apple has not named the returning figure in the available episode description. It would be premature to identify an old partner, colleague or family connection without episode evidence. The confirmed point is narrower: Daniela encounters somebody with prior knowledge of her, and that knowledge arrives when trust is already fragile.
That distinction keeps the preview useful. The scene can matter without requiring a surprise cameo. A credible witness to Daniela’s earlier life could help her recognize what she wants now, question a version of events she accepted, or refuse another compromise made in the name of keeping her family together.
Episode 6 can rebalance the season
The episode is titled ‘What the Universe Is Made Of,’ which fits a story about relationships becoming evidence. Dark Matter has never treated the box as only a machine. Its worlds are shaped by longing, regret and the lives characters imagine they might have chosen.
Daniela’s meeting can therefore change the season without opening another universe. If it gives her independent information or a clearer sense of self, every later decision about Jason, Charlie and the box will carry different weight.
