Peter Gabriel makes one of Silo Season 3’s most unexpected cameos, appearing as himself during Episode 9, “Farewell.” His brief performance also connects directly to Silo 17 and a musical detail introduced much earlier in the Apple TV series.
The cameo arrives during the “Before Times” storyline as Daniel Keene and Helen Drew attend a special event surrounding the completed silo project. Gabriel sits at a piano during a soundcheck and performs “Here Comes the Flood,” a fitting song considering what happens shortly afterward.

Gabriel is visiting the silo project with his family when Daniel finds him rehearsing. More importantly, the episode reveals that Gabriel and his family have been assigned to Silo 17. That detail turns the cameo into part of Silo’s wider history rather than simply a celebrity appearance.
Silo 17 should already be familiar to viewers. Juliette discovered the largely abandoned structure in Season 2, where she met Solo, later revealed to be Jimmy. During that season, Solo used Gabriel’s “Red Rain” while trying to draw Juliette back toward him.
Showrunner Graham Yost explained that this connection helped determine where Gabriel belonged in the story. With Gabriel and his family assigned to Silo 17 before civilization collapsed, the series now establishes a direct link between the musician and the silo where his music survives generations later. Yost also confirmed there is a non-zero possibility that some later Silo 17 residents descend from Gabriel’s family, although the writers have not established a specific bloodline.
Peter Gabriel’s music has been building toward this cameo
The connection goes beyond “Red Rain.” Season 3 opened with Gabriel’s “Come Talk to Me” playing over the closing credits, giving his music another prominent place in the series before he physically appeared.
Yost had also been speaking with Gabriel for several seasons. He first approached the musician about something during Season 1, although that idea did not happen. Gabriel later watched Silo with his family and became a fan, eventually leading to his Season 3 appearance.
“Here Comes the Flood” also lands at exactly the right moment. Shortly after Gabriel’s performance, the past storyline reaches the catastrophe that forces people underground and begins the world viewers have followed since Season 1.
Silo Season 3 concludes with Episode 10, “Troy,” on September 4. What did you think of Peter Gabriel’s cameo and its connection to Silo 17? Let us know in the comments.
