Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 2 will send the Dessen family back into the multiverse while Amanda and Ryan begin a separate mission that could reconnect several major storylines.

Apple’s official description says the search for a new home begins again, while Amanda and Ryan set off on a mission. That makes Episode 2 important for both major sides of the Season 2 story.
The premiere showed Jason, Daniela and Charlie discovering that simply leaving their original reality did not end their problems. After everything that happened with the different versions of Jason, the family remains vulnerable, and another unwanted visitor forces their situation to change again.
Jason will likely take his family through the Box as they continue looking for a reality where they can finally stay. However, Season 2 is already making it clear that finding the perfect world is much harder than opening the right door.
Jason is becoming increasingly obsessed with the Box, while Daniela is struggling with paranoia after everything her family experienced. Apple has confirmed that these problems will put growing pressure on their relationship as the season progresses.
Amanda and Ryan have their own mission
Episode 2 should also give Amanda and Ryan considerably more screen time.
The Season 2 premiere brought the pair together, creating a major new storyline after their separate journeys during Season 1. Ryan had previously been stranded in another reality by Jason2, while Amanda chose to remain in a seemingly advanced and peaceful version of Chicago.
Their new mission could reveal more about that world, the Box and whether either character can return to the reality they originally came from.
Meanwhile, Leighton remains another major piece of the puzzle. Season 2 follows his attempt to use the multiverse to pursue his vision of a perfect world, while Blair becomes determined to stop him.
With the Dessens searching for another home and Amanda and Ryan beginning their mission, Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 2 looks ready to expand the story beyond Jason’s immediate fight for survival.
