Fans of giant monster movies have something massive to look forward to this fall. The latest trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero just dropped at New York Comic Con, and it is giving us a real taste of the chaos to come. This time around, the famous radioactive lizard is not the only giant beast stomping through the streets. The new footage confirms that a major fan favorite monster is entering the picture, setting the stage for a seriously intense big screen showdown.

King Ghidorah brings destruction as the sequel gets an R-rating

The newly released trailer shows off King Ghidorah, a terrifying three-headed kaiju that fires gravity beams from the sky. The footage reveals Ghidorah easily wiping out buildings and flying vehicles. It looks like the returning human survivors will have to figure out a way to deal with both Ghidorah and Godzilla, who is shown regenerating and ready to fight.

Director Takashi Yamazaki is pushing the boundaries of the series with this sequel. Godzilla Minus Zero will be the first movie in the franchise to get an R-rating. Yamazaki mentioned that the violence and destruction in certain scenes were so important to the story that toning them down was out of the question.

The sequel is also breaking new ground behind the scenes. The production team filmed the movie specifically for IMAX screens, meaning the giant monster fights will feel larger than ever. The movie hits theaters in Japan on November 3, before making its way to North American screens on November 6.

With an R-rating and a classic rival joining the mix, the stakes have never been higher for humanity. The addition of King Ghidorah promises a brutal and visually stunning battle that should push the monster movie genre to new heights.
