That distinction matters because the finale also completes its main case. Seong-won is exposed, the buried victims are found and I-soo emerges from the frame-up with his place in Violent Crimes Unit 1 intact. Viewers receive an ending while the final tag opens a separate threat that can power a future season.

The final tag creates a ready-made threat
The bloodied stranger gives the writers a direct opening if another season moves ahead. Photos of I-soo, Ju Hye-ra, Jun-young and Kyung-jin cover the space around him, suggesting surveillance and preparation. The finale does not identify him or explain whether he is connected to the crimes already solved.
Kim Ji-hoon’s appearance makes the tag feel larger than a disposable final joke. Still, casting a recognizable performer for a tease does not guarantee that a network or streaming platform has ordered more episodes. It shows creative intent and gives a future story a face.
I-soo’s team has a stronger reason to return
I-soo also finishes Season 2 in a position that can sustain another run. The frame-up tested whether the unit would see him as a rich outsider when evidence turned against him. Their response and the gallery operation confirm trust that no longer depends on his money or family name.
That development frees a third season to challenge the team collectively. A person tracking several members can pressure their different loyalties and methods, while I-soo’s resources remain useful without replacing police work. Hye-ra’s partnership with him has also become dependable without being forced into a confirmed romance.
