That uncertainty is the useful question heading into the next chapter. Jackie has spent 20 years protecting an identity built after her life as an international drug smuggler. She now has to decide whether to stay hidden, identify who ordered the contract, or start dismantling the assassination team. The series’ official premise says she chooses a plan to take down the Demons one by one, but not the order in which she will face them.

Jackie’s first priority is learning who has found her
The first episode establishes the immediate threat when Jackie learns that the Seven Demons have a contract on her. It does not settle the more important question of who is paying them. Her former trafficking life offers an obvious source of enemies, but assuming that one specific person is behind the order would go beyond what the premiere proves.

Jackie’s response matters because the assassins have an advantage if they control the timing of every encounter. Discovering a Demon’s identity could let her turn that advantage around. It could also expose the people who now know her under a different life, including those close enough to be caught in the search for her.
Karenina is a lead, not a confirmed first victim
Karenina’s connection to the killers gives Jackie a potential route into their world. That makes her an understandable name to raise in a preview. It does not prove that Jackie will make her the first target, or that their next meeting will end in a fight. The distinction matters in a series built around hidden loyalties: knowing someone has access to the Demons is not the same as knowing what role that person will play next.
AMC’s description emphasizes Jackie’s attempt to eliminate the assassins before they eliminate her. It also warns that secrets from her own past will lead closer to home. Episode 2 can therefore advance the hunt without immediately revealing the person who commissioned it. A first move against one Demon might be designed to obtain information rather than simply remove an opponent.
October 9 begins the weekly test of Jackie’s plan
AMC+ launched the eight-episode season on October 2 and announced a weekly rollout. October 9 is the next Friday on that schedule. The platform has not supplied a confirmed character-by-character target list for Episode 2, and release availability outside the United States can differ because Prime Video and other services carry the show in selected territories.
