Adam Scott Reveals He Knows How Severance Will End, Big Twists Expected

Apple acquires Severance IP for $70 million, moves production in-house, plans expansion, and prepares Season 3 under Apple Studios control.

Apple TV’s Severance is preparing to begin filming season 3, and Adam Scott has already made one thing clear: the next chapter will bring major surprises while the show’s long-term ending is firmly mapped out. As excitement builds for the return of Apple’s sci-fi thriller, Scott’s latest comments suggest that fans can expect carefully planned twists rather than an open-ended mystery.

In a new interview with Variety, Scott revealed that he remains deeply involved in the creative process as both lead actor and executive producer, which gives him direct insight into where the story is heading.

“Oh, yes. I’m an executive producer on the show, so I’m involved in all of it. We talk with the writers and Dan [Erickson] all the time. I know everything about what’s going on. [As an actor] I like having as much information as possible.”

This confirmation should reassure viewers who have invested heavily in Severance’s layered mysteries, especially since creator Dan Erickson has previously promised that the series will answer its biggest questions before it ends.

Scott also teased that season 3 will continue expanding the show’s unsettling world in unexpected ways, saying there are “so many surprises” ahead. While Ben Stiller will not direct this season, Scott confirmed he remains heavily involved behind the scenes, helping shape the series creatively.

After more than two years since season 2 wrapped filming, the cast is reportedly eager to return. That long gap has only increased anticipation for what many expect to be one of Apple TV’s biggest future releases.

A Carefully Planned Ending

Scott’s remarks suggest Severance is avoiding the common trap of prestige mystery shows that build intrigue without clear resolution. Knowing the ending is already set gives the series stronger creative direction, which is especially important for a show built around psychological tension, corporate dystopia, and emotional depth.

For fans, that means season 3 is not just continuing the mystery. It is moving deliberately toward answers.
