Apple has released new public beta firmware for AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2, bringing public beta testers onto the same 9A5336b build that arrived for developers last week. The firmware is part of the testing cycle for new AirPods features coming alongside iOS 27.
The new firmware does not install through a traditional Software Update screen, and once beta updates are enabled, AirPods firmware installs automatically when the required conditions are met.

How to update
- Make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS 27 public beta.
- Join the public beta program if you have not already enrolled.
- Connect your supported AirPods to your iPhone.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the i button next to your AirPods.
- Open AirPods Beta Updates and enable beta firmware updates.
- Keep your AirPods charging and within Bluetooth range of your Wi-Fi-connected iPhone so the firmware can install automatically.
You can check the installed version by opening Settings > Bluetooth, tapping the i button beside your AirPods, and scrolling down to the firmware information.

Apple has not published detailed release notes listing specific changes in build 9A5336b, so this beta appears focused on testing and preparing AirPods for features arriving with iOS 27.
