Anthropic raises Claude Code weekly limits by 25% for paid plans

Anthropic is permanently increasing the standard weekly usage limits for Claude Code by 25% starting September 14, giving paid users more coding capacity than they received under the previous standard limits.

However, Claude Code users currently have a temporary 50% increase in weekly limits. That promotion will remain active until September 14, after which Anthropic will replace it with the permanent 25% increase.

Claude Code limits will drop from their current temporary levels

The change applies to Claude Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans. Compared with the temporary limits available today, Anthropic says the September 14 allowance represents roughly a 17% reduction.

Here is how the change works:

  • Previous standard weekly limit: 100%
  • Current temporary weekly limit: 150%
  • Permanent limit from September 14: 125%
  • Difference from the current temporary limit: about 17% lower

Anthropic has not published fixed token numbers for the new weekly allowances. Actual usage also depends on factors such as the model being used, conversation length and complexity, and other features consuming the same account allowance.

For Pro and Max subscribers, usage across Claude and Claude Code counts toward the same limits. Users receive warnings as they approach their available capacity and can purchase additional usage credits if they need to continue working after reaching the included limit.

Team members also receive individual usage limits rather than sharing one allowance across an entire organization. Anthropic currently gives Team Standard seats 1.25 times the Pro session allowance, while Premium seats receive 6.25 times the Pro allowance.

Anthropic says more Claude changes are coming

Anthropic says it settled on the new permanent limits after evaluating how much Claude Code capacity it can sustainably provide. The company previously doubled Claude Code’s five-hour rate limits for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans in May.

The Claude team also teased upcoming changes designed to give users better visibility and control over their usage, although it has not revealed the details yet.

For Claude Code users, September 14 therefore brings a permanent improvement over the original weekly limits, while ending the larger temporary increase currently available.
